THE STORY
As part of my design studies, I developed a series of illustrations for Alice in Wonderland using experimental art techniques. The task was to reinterpret classic scenes with a personal artistic voice.
MY ROLE
I produced four illustrations for key moments in the story, combining collage techniques with linocut printing.

THE CHALLENGE
The challenge was to translate a well-known story into original visuals using traditional craft methods. I wanted to move away from typical “storybook” imagery and instead capture the surreal, whimsical, and sometimes unsettling tone that reinvents Alice from an adult perspective.

PROCESS
I was free to select any moments from the book to create illustrations based on them. I immediately knew which moments would be interesting to illustrate: falling down a rabbit hole, conversation with the caterpillar, a strange tea party, and the final big escape. I experimented with linocut and paper collage to create layered illustrations representing those scenes. Then I digitally refined the pieces for presentation.
OUTCOME
The result combined the whimsy and surreal qualities of Lewis Carroll’s story in my own adult interpretation. This project was an extremely fun exploration of traditional craft techniques and how classic stories can be reimagined in modern illustration.
